The Arjuna Award Winner and former Olympian Boxer, Manoj Pingle was a student of our college. Manoj started his career when he was 10 years old. He won many District Championships, State Championships and further he grew to win the National Championship. He brought laurels to the country by participating in more than 20 International Tournaments like the Commonwealth Games, the Asian Games and the South Asian Games. In spite of not getting good facilities and exposure, he excelled in the game and represented the nation in the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. Presently Manoj is the founder of the Manoj Pingle Sports Academy, where he himself trains the young Boxers of the city.
Abhimanyu Samir Puranik, the 19 year old became the 49th Grandmaster of India after he scored his final GM norm at Abu Dhabi Masters 2017. Abhimanyu started playing chess when he was only five. He started receiving coaching from the International Master Chandrasekhar Gokhale. Abhimanyu worked hard to develop the stamina to sit for as long as six hours without losing concentration. Abhimanyu was awarded with the Shiv Chhatrapati Award for his excellence in the game. He won Gold at the World School Chess Championship in 2007 in the Under 7 section by scoring 9.0/9. He won the Silver Medal in The World Junior Chess Championship, Turkey. In the Sitges Open, Spain he got the International Masters Title.

He was the runner up in FENESTA Open National Tennis Championship Held in Delhi. Dhruv won the AITA Men’s Tournament held in Mumbai. He was the winner in the West Zone Lawn Tennis Inter University Matches. He bagged the Khelo India Youth Games in the U21 Category. He participated in the All India Inter University Matches which were held in Chennai. He brought laurels to the country by bagging the Gold Medal in ITF Junior G3 Circuit held in Morocco
Nasifa received the Best Sportsperson Award in 2018 – 2019. She is an International Player. Nasifa stood 1st in the Intercollegiate Rowing Championship and bagged the 2nd position in Zonal Championship held in Nashik. She has participated in the FISU World University Rowing Championship held in Shanghai, China. Nasifa became the fastest female rower in the country by winning the Senior National Rowing Championship. Nasifa has also won many Inter Zonal and Inter Collegiate Tournaments
Snehal Mane, the student of our college has represented the country in ITF U18 Petit Camp Open held in Mauritius and earned the runner up position. She also secured runner up position in the Mauritius Open. In the doubles category she earned the Gold medal. This girl from Pune has participated in the Sarawak Doubles Open held in Malaysia. She was the winner in All India Inter State National Tennis Championship held in Chhattisgarh. She won the AITA / CLTA Tennis Circuit Men & Women held in Chandigarh. Snehal won the intercollegiate Lawn Tennis Championship in her home town, Pune.
Parikshit Somani is an ITF International Player. He represented the country in the ITF Futures Tournament Held in Egypt. He won the West Zone Lawn Tennis Inter University Matches. Parikshit won winner of Fenesta Open National Championship in the Men’s Doubles Category. He was winner of the Inter Collegiate Lawn Tennis Championship which was held in Pune. Parikshit started playing when he was just 3. He got into the game because of his father. Parikshit believes in yoga to maintain a balance between physical and mental fitness. Parikshit aims to represent the country in the Grand Slam.
Martand Biniwale, a student of our college is the CEO and FOUNDER of Fusion Sports. He is a Dynamic entrepreneur and an International Table Tennis player. He launched 1st Exclusive Table Tennis Online store in the year 2011. Fusion Sports is an equipment, Marketing and event management company. It is an independent Sports event management company skilled in the implementation of sports events for Corporate, school and clubs. Fusion Sports strives to lead in the innovation of the hospitality experience.
Harshal is the Co Owner at Pursuit Sports Academy and the Marketing and Advertising Head at Plan My Medical Trip PVT. LTD. Harshal completed his Bachelor in Commerce from our college. He has represented India in Roller and Ice Speed Skating at Asian World and International Level and has won 2 Silver medals for the country at the Winter South Asian Games. Harshal has been awarded with the Shiv Chhatrapati Rajya Puraskar for his excellence and achievements. He has won several Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the National Level in Roller and Ice Speed Skating for more than 12 years
Bhushan Thakur has been an International Table Tennis player having played for India many times including prestigious tournament like the World Championship. He also has played in the Swedish legue1st division for 6 years. He has trained a lot of national and international players. Presently he is a very successful entrepreneur as well as a motivational speaker. Bhushan founded Sports Champ, a sports education magazine. He is also the founder and director of Sports Business Group and the Love All Sports Foundation.
Annapurna Dattatraya Bothate, the student of our college is currently serving in the Indian Army. She stood third in the all India NCC merit list. Annapurna is also a Rugby Player and has participated in many National Level tournaments. The 25 year old has been playing the game since 2010. She has represented the country in the Asian Games from 2010 to 2014 and has been a part of the Rugby World Cup Qualifiers Team and was a Silver medalist at Kerala National Games in 2015. Annapurna gives the tribute of her selection to her father.
Shailesh Garad, the student of our college received the Best Sportsperson Award in the year 2014 – 2015 and the second time in the year 2017 - 2018. Shailesh is a National Level Rifle Shooter. He has represented the college in many tournaments. He participated in the 60th and 61th National Shooting Competition. Shailesh also participated in the 17th Kumar Surndra Singh Memorial National Shooting Competition Held at Delhi.
- Yash Agrawal received the Late. Madhukar Mandke Award for Best Sportsperson Award in the year 2015 – 2016. Yash is a Lawn tennis Player. . Yash won the Zonal Tournament. He was the Runner up in the Inter Collegiate Lawn Tennis Tournament.
Athlete Prajakta Bhosale received the Late. Madhukar Mandke Award for Best Player in the year 2015 – 2016. Prajakta won the Inter Collegiate Discuss Throw Competition Held in Pune. He bagged the runner up position in the Inter Collegiate Hammer Throw Competition and the Maharashtra State Annual Athletics Championship Held in Pune. She stood 3rd in 20th Maharashtra State Inter University Krida Mohatsav in the year 2016 held in Parbhani District. In the year 2017 she won the Inter Zonal Discuss Throw Competition. Prajakta has participated in the Federation Cup – Senior National held in Amritsar.
Our Athlete, Durga Maheshwar from the First year won the Best Sports Person Award in the year 2016 – 2017. Durga Won 3 Gold Medals in the Inter Collegiate Athletics meet in Shot Put, Hammer Throw and Discuss Throw. He also was the Runner up in the Junior National Meet. Durga Participated in the Maharashtra State Annual Athletics Championship Held in Ratnagiri and bagged the Second Position in Hammer Throw and Discuss Throw. He Won the Intercollegiate Discuss Throw Competition and stood 2nd in the Hammer Throw event in the same tournament. In the year 2018 – 2019, Durga won 2 Gold and 1 Silver medal in the Inter Collegiate Athletics Meet.

On 5th August 2017, a Self Defence Workshop for girls was organised by Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce under the supervision of the Gymkhana Department. The workshop was conducted by Juvenate Wellbeing Private Limited. The trainers who had come to train the girls were Gauri Shingote and Shanthi.
The initiative to organise the program was taken by the Director of Physical Education & Sports - Anirudha Sharma and the Coordinators - Vikash Khetan and Bela Lunawat.
The theme of the workshop was "Be a woman who doesn't need a man. Protect yourself. Be independent". The workshop was specially organised for girls and 40+ girls participated in the workshop. The workshop mainly aimed at spreading awareness and the different methods that can be used by the girls to ensure their personal safety. The participants were given a brief idea of how they should react when faced with situations and circumstances that are harmful to them. A practical session was also organised where in the students were taught basic punches and kicks such as jab punch, front leg kick, side snap kick and many others.

The Gymkhana and NSS department of Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce had organized Women’s day celebration programme on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The event started at around 10:30 am. Various games such as dodge ball, arm wrestling and relay race were organized for all the college female students and teachers. Around 76 female students and 4 teachers participated enthusiastically. Winners in all three games were awarded by the guest of honor Dr. Shirish Limaye, head of accounting and costing department & Dr. Marcelle Samuel, Controller of Examination. They were presented with go handy handmade ear-rings and a certificate of appreciation. The program ended on a good note and a vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Ashwini Kothari.
21st June is celebrated as International Yoga Day. Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce celebrated the same day too. We had 130 people who practiced Yoga on the same day.
We had Mr. Kishor Ghadiyar as resource person to conduct sessions on that day. The session was organized in a manner that everyone enjoyed a lot and everyone came to know about the importance of Yoga and they also were informed about few Yogasanas which can be done on a daily basis during working hours in college.
Every teacher from our college participated and they were very enthusiastic about it.
We collected feedback from everyone and we got a positive response and everyone requested to conduct it every year. This feedback motivates us to conduct it ever year so that more students and staffs are benefited by practicing Yoga.
A refresher course in Volleyball was jointly organised by Symbiosis college of Arts and Commerce and Pune District Volleyball Association from 18 June 2018 to 20 June 2018. Renowned International Referee Mr. Aejaz Shaikh and International Coach Mr. Devidas Jadhav were invited to guide the participants. 26 people from different institutions participated in the course which covered both the theory and practical aspects of the game. It was a wonderful learning opportunity for Coaches, Officials, Physical education teachers, Directors of Physical Education and Sports and sportsperson. Certificates were given to all the participants. The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Principal Dr. Hrishikesh Soman, Mr. Uday Kad (President – PDVA), Dr. Sanjay Gaikwad and Mr. Anirudha Sharma.
The Lawn Tennis Intercollegiate Men’s Tournament 2018-2019 was jointly conducted by Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce and Pune City Zonal Sports Committee under Savitribai Phule Pune University. The matches were conducted from 16th and 18th October 2018 on Savitribai Phule Pune University Lawn Tennis court. A total number of 9 teams participated in the tournament and a total of 8 players registered themselves for the Selection trials. The First placed was bagged by Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, followed by BMCC College securing the Second place and Kaveri College the Third place. The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Dattatray Mahadam (Assistant Director - Board of Sports, SPPU) & Prof. P.G. Shinde. Winners were given away prizes by the guests. The closing ceremony ended with a thank you speech given by Mr. Anirudha Sharma.
The Softball Intercollegiate Men’s and Women’s Tournament for the academic year 2018-2019 was jointly conducted by Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce and Pune City Zonal Sports Committee under Savitribai Phule Pune University. The matches were conducted on 11th and 12th October 2018 on S. P. College ground. The opening ceremony of the tournament was on 11th Oct 2018. The chief guest for the function was Principal Dr. Dilip Seth (S. P. College), Mr. Y. J. Asher (Technical Committee Chairman - Softball Association of India & International Player/Coach/Referee) and Mr. Rajendra Misal (International player). A total number of 129 players participated in the tournament. The matches were conducted under two categories - Men’s and Women’s. The closing ceremony was held on 12th October 2018, Mrs. Sangeeta Karale (In charge of SP College ground) graced the ceremony by her presence and handed the gifts and certificates to the prize winners. The closing ceremony ended with a thank you speech given by Mr. Anirudha Sharma.
