From the Principal's Desk

Dr. Hrishikesh Soman

Principal

On behalf of Symbiosis in general and the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce in particular, I appreciate the interest shown by you in our institution.

At present education is undergoing a sea change and it is quite understandable that it becomes difficult to make decisions about which course and which college to choose. The ultimate aim of education is not just creation and dissemination of knowledge, but also to develop global competencies and build the overall moral character of the learner.

The Autonomous status of the college allows us to introduce pragmatism in the curriculum and evaluation process. Academic autonomy gives us the freedom to impart the best, most updated industry oriented education, along with instilling the right values and concern for the society. I am extremely glad to share that the UGC has granted a status of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) to our college. This will certainly encourage us to undertake new and innovative activities for the benefit of our students.

We at Symbiosis believe that learning beyond classroom is equally important as the classroom interaction. Therefore, students are encouraged to organize and participate in the various co-curricular, extra-curricular activities as well as sports. The classrooms are digitally equipped making learning more interesting and interactive. Our efforts are directed towards student development for employment and self-employment. The college attracts many top corporates for placement and the number of students getting placed is increasing year after year.

In addition to regular B.A. and B. Com. and M. Com., the college has also started M.A. (Economics and English) programmes in the academic year 2016-17. We also offer some unique academic programmes to make our students more competent.

Some of these include:

Degree with Honours Programme: B. A. with Honours and B. Com. with Honours

Diploma in Liberal Arts: A unique diploma in Liberal Arts which will enable the students to think critically and nurture his / her creativity

ACCA:The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Internationalisation of Education: Student Exchange programmes, Joint academic programmes in collaboration with many Universities from USA, UK and Europe and South- East Asia

We look forward to welcoming you aboard and here’s wishing you an unforgettably enriching experience with us.
