The College has been offering M.A. Economics from the academic year 2016-17. The basic objective of our Masters Programme in Economics is to train students to develop strong theoretical foundations with a blend of practical analytics. An M.A. in Economics would assist in developing professionals and experts who would be able to apply economic reasoning to real world issues. It would also expose students to the complexities, dynamics and challenges of the current global economic scenario. The course aims to equip students with skills for economic analysis and decision making. An emphasis on data analysis and interpretation through the course would also encourage critical thinking and logical reasoning. The course would provide a learning platform for students who wish to pursue a career in national and international organizations, industry, education, public administration and NGO’s.
The student who has passed any degree of this University or any other recognized University shall be admitted to M.A. in Economics programme.
Once admitted, student cannot leave the programme in between.
The courses will be taught by the faculty of the Department of Economics and Department of Banking and Finance along with the Guest Faculty who fulfils the norms of the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for the Teachers 2010 and other rules prescribed by UGC and SPPU from time to time in this regard.
In case of special circumstances, the professionals and experts will be invited whenever required.
The M. A. Economics will be of Two years’ duration consisting of Two parts. i.e. Part I comprising of two semesters and Part II comprising of Two Semesters. The entire programme thus comprises of Four Semesters in all with a total of 80 credits.

All the students should intern with an Academic (Research) Institute/NGO/firm, industry, etc. for a minimum duration of 120 hours. They could start with the internship program in the first semester and complete it by the end of the second semester.
